ACCIDENT AVERTED.
BUS DRIVER ACTS QUICKLY. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. The presence of mind of Mr. F. Reid, driver of the Eastbourne bus, averted an accident on Saturday afternoon. When the bus turned a corner a collision with a car was apparently inevitable. Mr. Reid saw that the car was full of children, and steered the bus over the edge of the road on to the beach below, a drop of three feet. He was able to keep the bus upright, and the passengers escaped with a shaking. One of the children in the car, which was grazed, was cut by flying glass.
