CAUGHT BY WAVE.
I BOY LOST; GIRL RESCUED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON .Monday. While paddling on Kawatiri Beach, Raumati, about three milc3 north of Paekakariki, on Saturday afternoon Brian Mor.kman, aged eight years, a son of Air. Leonard Monk man, of Wellington, manager of the Yorkshire Insurance Company, was swept off his feet by heavy surf and drowned. The boy was paddling with Rae Turner, aged 11 years, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Turner, of Wellington, when an unusually large wave swept them off their feet. A number of people rushed to their aid, and the girl was brought ashore in an exhausted condition. The boy was swept 25 yards down the beach before his mother, who went to his rescue, could secure him. Artificial respiration was applied without success.
