NEW TYPE OF VEHICLE.
METROPOLITAN SERVICES.
When the Auckland Transport Board decided some months ago to hand over its suburban feeder bus services to private contractors, arrangements were made for the purchase of four new buses which would be handed over-to the contractors and paid for under an instalment plan. The first of these buses, a light /one,-the body of which was built in Wellington, has been delivered, and will; be • put ■'■' into commission next Monday. A second chassis has been delivered and the body will be built in Auckland, as well as the bodies of the other two buses, when the , chasses arrive. The new bus will seat 19 passengers and is equipped with low-pressure tyres. A door operated by the driver-conductor will be used instead of an open entrance. The other three buses will each seat 21 passengers.
