NORTHERN UNION MEETING. EIGHTY-FIVE CLUBS AFFILIATED. At the annual meeting of the Northern Athletic Union, held at Te Aroha on Monday night, officers elected were: —President, Mr. R. Coulter; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. G. Draper (Mangatapere) and iS. D. George (Te Aroha) ; council, Messrs. G. Swain (Waiuku), W. Shannon (Springdale), P. Pilkington (Te Aroha), G. W. Bennett (Ruawai), S. T. Keen (Awakeri), W. E. Johus (Mauku), A. Devereaux (Qwhanga), and N. Quirk (Te Aroha) ; ctmsuls, Messrs. E. C. Sherman (Rotorua), F. Jones (Tangitu), H. W. Tonkin (Auckland), R. Scott (Mnrrlnsvillc), W. Hall (Donnelly's Crossing), C. N. McLean (Waipu), W. Findlay (ratumalioe), R. V. Hollis (Waihi), N. Hastie (Mangawai), G. F. Meale (Ruawai), 11. Brown (Te Mata), P. Bygrave (Te Arolia) ; handicappers, Mr. F. T. McAneny (Auckland) and Sir. 11. W. Tonkin (Auckland), cycling; Mr. C. L. Hardy (Auckland), chopping and sawing; Mr. C. Morrison (Te Aroha) and Mr. F. M. McAneny, running; auditor, Mr. E. H. Edmonds; secretary, Mr. J. L. Harris (Otahuhu). There were over fifty delegates present. The annual report stated that 85 clubs wore affiliated in the Auckland Province. The accounts showed a credit of £114. The next annual meeting is to bo held at Auckland. RIVERHEAD SCHOOL SPORTS. The annual school sports were held on Labour Day at the Riverhead Athletic Park in fine weather. There was a good attendance, which included representatives from schools north of Auckland and outside the city area. The principal events of the day were a seven-asside football tournament, which was won by Riverhead school with Brigham's Creek runners-up; and the relay race competition for the Schools' Shield, which was won by Riverhead A team, second place being filled by Riverhead B team. Results of flat races:— Boys, 10 to 14 years.—V. Jonkers. Girls: K. Naysmith. Boys, 10 to 12 years.—E. Foster. Girls: Clarice Took. Boys, 8 to 10 years.—J. Lobb. Gills: J. Naysmith. Boys, oto 8 years.—G. Hall. Girls: V. Jonkers. CARNIVAL AT ONEROA. On Labour Day there was held at Oneroa Ocean Beach, Wailieke Island, the first of a series of carnivals, the results of the athletic events being:— 100 Yards, beys, under 14.—First heat: Colin Column 1, Bill Fords 2. Second heat: Ronald Thomas 1, Pat Flanagan 2. Third heat: Richard Emery 1, Michael Shanalinn 2. Third heat: Marie Campbell 1. Fourth heat: George Eliott 1, Bill Feeney 2. Fifth heat: Dick Toomer 1, Albert Cummins 2. Sixth heat: George Burgoyne 1, Cliff Beeston 2 100 Yards, girls, under 14.—First heat: Joy O'Brien 1, Alma Carter 2. Second heat: Phyllis Vazey 1, Ellen Fraser 2. Those races have yet to bo finalised at the next meeting. SPORTS AT TAURANGA. There was a large attendance at the Labour Day sports held at the Tauranga Domain on Labour Day.
