GOOD SALE AT OPOTIKI
j The monthly stock ealo held at the ! Opotiki ealeyards was one of the most successful for some considerable time. Prices in most instances showed an increase. The yardings of cattle and pigs were better than at late sales. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report offering a full yarding of all classes of cattle, including a good entry of pedigree and grade Jersey bulls. Prices for sheep were: — Fat woolly wethers and ewes, mixed to 21/2. The pigs attracted a large attendance of buyers and keen bidding, selling at advanced rates. Maiden Tamworth sows, in pig, to £4; good store pigs, 23/0 to 24/6; beet weaners, 18/9 to 19/6; smaller; to 14/9. There was a strong demand for dairy bulls, on account of Mr. James Paul, Toatoa, the rising three-year-old pedigree bull Toatoa Star Glow realising 27gs, and pedigree yearling bulls on account of the eame vendor B%gs to lOUgs. On account of Mr. S. M. Jephaon, Opotiki, a pedigree yearling Jersey bull 23%g5, and another Jersey bull on account of the same vendor, lOgn. Pedigree two-year Shorthorn bulls, £3 3/ to £4 4/; yearling pedigree Shorthorn bulls, 4%gs to sgs; three and four-year grade Jersey bulls, £3 2/6 to £5 2/6; two-year Holstein bulls, to £4 7/6; dairy cows, close to profit, £3 10/ to £4; others, £2 10/ to £3; springing Jersey heifers, £4 to £4 7/6; medium fat cows, £1 17/ to £2 5/; fresh and forward cows, £1 11/ to £1 17/; others. 27/ to 20/; store conditioned cows and small calves, to 21/; boner cows, 10/ to 20/; Jersey heifers, to £2; others. 23/ to 35/: mixed-coloured two-year steers. 20/ (o 32/6; potted bulls, heavy, to £3 5/; Jersey bulls, 20/ to "0/; small yearling Jersey bulls, 22/ to 36/.
