STEADY PROGRESS.

"Woollen-milling statistics for the year 1932-33 indicate that steady progress was made in this industry during the year ended March 31. Compared with the figures for the year 1931-32, persons finding employment advanced by 6 per cent, and salaries and wages paid increased by 5 per cent. The cost of materials operated upon rose from £261,061 in 1931-32 to £323,610 in 1932-33, or by 24 per cent. The value of products was over £86,000 higher than in 1931-32, an increase of 11 per cent. "Added value" (difference between value of products and cost of materials) went up by 4 per cent. A 2 per cent decline is recorded for the value of laud, buildings, plant and machinery.
