DATE SHELLS.
('Sent In by Dorothy Calvey, Gladstone Road, Gisbome.) Ingredients: 2. cupful flour, 2 tablespoonfuls of dripping or butter, 2 I tablespoonfuls sugar, half teaspoonful j baking powder, quarter teaspoonful ! salt, half egg, peanuts. j Method: Cream butter or dripping, I using a wooden spoon. Add egg j slightly beaten ar.d then flour, salt j and baking powder and mix together. Roll paste out on a lightly floured board and cut into rounds. Put peanuts in middle of a stoned date and place on half of round, folding the other half over. Place on trays and bake in a moderate oven till a light brown. '
