SEVERAL FAST GALLOPS.

Kiltowyn's Smart Six.—King Musk Also Impresses,

Conditions were perfect for training at Ellerslie this morning and there was a fair amount of galloping in view of the approaching Avondale spring meeting. Jvo. 1 grass track was available for fast woik and several smart gallops were recorded the best efforts being those of Kiltowyu Chi';f Cook, King Musk and Jewelled I Girdle. Three two-year-olds were sprinted th.'ee furlongs along the back of the course proper and othew horses were worked on the sand, tall and two-year-old tracks. The Course Proper. Seven Seas, Sporting Song and Ladv Gainsborough were companions over three furlongs. They jumped off together at the mile post, and when they liad gone half a furlong Seven Seas had a slight advantage of Sporting Song, which he maintained over the first two furlongs, which occupied 24 2-ss, Lady Gainshorongii being several lengths back. Seven Seas was then eased and Sporting Song went on to complete three in 37 l-3s. No. I Grass. Karangapai did strong work over a round, registering 1.25 2-5 for the last six furlongs, the final three being covered in 40 I-ss. This horse is making satisfactory progress. Hispania and Hawthorn were companions over six furlongs atnl after running the first three in 38 3-as, registered 1.22 2-5 for the distance. Hi s ! pania finished well i n front, Hawthorn being eased up over the last furlong. Zane Grey, carrying a very light weight, beat Neil at the end of a mile and a half, the final round taking 2.7 2-5. Mabkill and Gay Broney got to the end of sevm longs in 1.33 2-5, the last six being covered iu 1.18 3-5. Gay Broney impressed most.

Glenromney worked alone over five furlongs, running the first furlong in 13 2-ss, and finishing up in 1.3 3-5. He did his work very freely. Versant and Wee Pat 2ot to the end of a round in 1.59 3-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.23 1-5. There was little between them at the end. Prince Colossus gave Magic Mint a start over a round, which took 2.3 2-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.25 2-5. Prince Colossus was almost on terms at the finish. Miss Rewa ran home from the three-furloug post in 39 3-ss. She is beginning to show improvement in her work. King March and Gay Marigold, after running their first three furlongs in 38 2-ss, were going smoothly at the end of six furlongs in 1.18. They were on terms at the finish. Mountain Breeze, who began fast from the six-furlong post, completed her task in 1.19 3-5, after running the first three in 37 2-ss. This novice is a very free worker. Supreme Ruler and Chief Emerald jumped away from the sevenfurlong post and ran home in 1.34 1-5, the final half-mile taking 525. Supreme Ruler showed to more advantage thau his companion. Sir Val was allotted a similar task, which he ran comfortably in 1.42 2-5, the last;three in 425. King Musk was responsible for a good effort over eis furlongs, running the distance in 1-10 3-5. He began smartly and registered 36 2-5s for the first three furlongs. The gtablr mates. Baroscope and Lady Diana, traversed six furlongs in 1,21 4-5, the last half-mile taking 535. Baroscope finished in front. Lord Val was not after time while working over a roijnd, the last seven furlongs being covered in 1.44 4-5, Gay Rose went off steadily from the six-furlong post and completed her last half-mile in 52 1-sb, doing it very comfortably. The best effort of the morning over 6«- furlongs was registered by Iviltowyn, the Kilbroney gelding running his first three furlongs in 36 2-5s and the full distance in 1.14 4-5. He had a fair amount of pace on when he jumped off, but nevertheless it was a pleasing performance. Morehu completed five furlongs in 1.5, after taking 14 4-5s for the first furlong. She was running on solidly at t,he finish. Darry\rell and Grant's Opal finished up by running the last three furlongs of their work in 40 l-ss. Chief Cook and Jewelled Girdle were several lengths ahead of United at the end of six furlongs, which occupied 1.16 2-5, the first three taking 37 Lss. Jewelled Girdle lost, a couple oi lengths at the start and his effort was very encouraging. Chief Cook wap also going nicely at the finish. Chief Cleiu. after commencing slowly oyer a round, was timed to run his last six furlong? i n 1.24. He went very evenly and could have done much better. On the two-year-old track Royal Appellant and Red Flame were allotted ujetnl tasks,' going a shade better than las to the furlong. .
