EPSOM TRACK.
This Morning's Work—Kewpie's
Triumph Impresses.
There was not a great deal of work done at Epsom this morning when all trials took place on the cinder track, strong unhoppled tasks being mostly the order of the morning.
Auto Machine was first out and was sent two miles. There was no pace during the first half, and he then went on to register 3.29 2-5 for the mile and a half, the last half-mile in 1.7 2-5. This horse was never doing his best, and he will be very fit by the time the Auckland meeting comes along. Autumn Lu and Bell Dial were allotted strong work over a couple of circuits, Autumn Lu impressing most. Prince Etawah was given a run over a mile and a quarter, registering 2.54 1-5, and coming home the last half in 1.7. Silver Bingen was let off with four rounds of unhoppled work. He is looking in first rate condition and appears to have rosy prospects of winning a race at the Auckland meeting. Red Eagle pleased by the manner in which he executed some solid work on the sand. The chestnut is standing up to his preparation in great style. Kewpie's King, Moko Girl, Nellota and Kewpies Triumph jumped off at the mile and a half post at second intervals. Kewpies King led over the first mile in 2.30 4-5, where Moko Girl moved up fast and ran to the front, but Kewpie's lriumph and Nellota finished best in the run home, the former having a length advantage at the post. Kewpie's Triumph recorded 3.31 4-5, the last half in 1.5, Kewpie's King 3.36 2-5, Nellota 3.32. and 3 36 WaS easetl up at tile finish, |
Silver _ Bullet joined the above quartet at the 5iX-furlong post and ran home over the last half-mile in 1.6. He is a candidate for the Great Northern Derby.
