DEVASTATING FLOOD.
UNITED PROVINCES IN INDIA. CALCUTTA, August 31. Bursting its banks in many places, water from the River Jumna, in the United Provinces, inundated thousands of acres of land. The flood swept a number of villages out of existence, and there was heavy loss of life and cattle. Troops have been rushed to the Agra districts. The danger of the piercing of the Skyok dam has passed and the waters of the Indus are falling.
