INSANITY PLEA FAILS.
MAN MURDERS HIS WIFE. SYDNEY, August 31. At the Criminal Court, Sydney, to-day Eric Leslie Jones, aged 29, was convicted on a charge of murdering his wife and sentenced to death. The crime was committed on the Cessnock coalfields •on July 15. Jones, whose matrimonial relations were unhappy, shot his wife dead and also shot her woman companion, who recovered. The defence was that the accused was insane when the shooting occurred.,
