DOGS ON GUARD.
BY DEAD MASTER. DISCOVERY BY ISLANDER. INQUEST AT WHANGAREI. (By TelegrapTi.—Own Correspondent.) WHANG AEEI> this day. That death was due to natural causes was the verdict of the coroner, Mr. H. C. Hemphill, at the adjourned inquest on the late Richard Harcourt Aubrey. The inquest was held at Pataua yesterday. Evidence was given by Mrs. Aubrey that on the evening of August 12 her husband, who appeared to be in good health, went to cut down a tree about a mile and a half away from the house. His delay in returning caused anxiety, and Joe, an Islander who had been living with the family for 50 years, found his master lying dead near a fallen tree, with his two dogs keeping watch beside the body. The Islander was unable to give a coherent account of anything in English.
