PIAKO'S SILVER.
New Zealand Shipping Co. Claims £289 Found. 'COINS ABOARD SHIP. (Received 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. A claim has been lodged on behalf of the New Zealand Shipping Co. for the English silver coin, amounting to £289, discovered on the Piako, on the ground that the silver was found on its property. The Victorian Collector of Customs, who has had charge since the silver was confiscate, says that no one has yet claimed ownership, though it is understood the New Zealand Government has submitted a claim under the Finance Act (No. 2), of 1931. A Sydney message on Saturday stated that the claim would be made by the New Zealand Trade Commissioner at Sydney.
