TRACK GALLOPS.

WORK AT ELLERSLIE. GAY MARIGOLD IMPROVING. KING MUSK AND MOREHU PLEASE. Trainers had the use of the No. 2 grass at Ellerslie this morning, the weather conditions being perfect, while the going was good, but owing to the horses having no immediate engagements there was not as much fast work as usual. Courthavcn was first out, and was timed to run her last three furlongs in 39 4-ss. Her stablemate, Glenromney, was sent five furlongs, which he= completed in 1.6 1-5. Aroha Mai did strong work, running the last half-mile in 58 l-ss. Gay Broney and My Money reeled off half a mile in 525. There was little between them at the finish, both hitting out very freely. Gay Marigold worked over six furlongs, running the distance in 1.22, the iinal half-mile taking 53 l-ss. Mountain Breeze covered a similar distance in 1.22 1-5. This iilly is doing well, and displays promise. Versant and Jewelled Girdle did strong work, but were not timed. It is probable that the former will be tried over hurdles later on in the season. Wee Pat and Patutahi completed a round in 1.58, the last six furlongs taking 1.26 4-5. Wee Pat impressed most. Morehu and King Musk hit out very freely over five furlongs, which they " traversed in 1.4 4-5. Morehu, displayed speed early, but- they were practically together at the finish, and it was a good effort for novices. Mahkill and The Highland Chief covered a round in 1.56 3-5, the last six furlongs taking 1.25 2-5. They finished on terms. Very Well and Grant's Opal sprinted three furlongs in 425, and Lady Diana and Baroscope were going comfortably at the end of half a mile in 57 4-ss. Others to do useful work were Karangapai, Zane Grey, Teremai, King March, Prince Colossus, Leo Colossus, Lord Val, Dark Marble, Kiltowyn, Gay Rose, Velociter, i'jagle's Pride, United, Chief Cook and Chief Clerk. The Jumpers. Aspect (R. Olive) was schooled over half a dozen pony hurdles. He did not show much dash, though he gave a safe display. The Highland Chief (Turvey) was tried over a pony hurdle. He ran off at the first attempt, and at the second, in trying to do likewise, he ran right into the guard and fell. He was not further persevered with.
