BACK INJURY.
WAIHI MINER'S CLAIM. Compensation for ~ba.dk injuries received while working for the Waihi Gold Mining Company, Limited, was claimed in the Arbitration Court this morning by William Richard Dormer, a miner. ~ , . . ,- a Mr. Justice Frazer presided, plaintiff was represented by Mr. P. J. 0 R ? and Mr. J. Horc appeared for the defendant company. Plaintiff said that on June 17, 1932, he injured his back while pushing a truck, and he was totally disabled for 15 weeks. His disability had caused sciatica and lumbago. At that time ins weekly wage was £5 11/4. He admitted that the company had paid him compensation at the rate of £3 14/2 a week. He had done light work in the mine during that time, and he had received a total of £78 13/4, which covered him up to March 11 of this year. Dormer claimed £3 14/2 a week compensation from the date of the last Payment, which was March 11, up to the time of the trial. He also asked for further compensation by way of a lump Bum * • -TJ. The company denied liability for further compensation.
