JAW BROKEN FIRST ROUMD.
N.S.W. HEAVY CHAMPION. With his jaw. baiidngcd, Pat George, heavy-weight professional boxing champion of New South Wales, is returning to Sydney by the Niagara, which reached Auckland from Suva to-day. I George had three fights at Suva. In his first match he beat Harold Sturt on a technical knock-out in the fourth round, and in his second he defeated Ben' Valentine, heavy-weight champion of Fiji, who was disqualified. for going down without being hit. In his third bout George met Bill Heritage, a halfcaste native. In the first round the Australian had his jaw broken by a powerful right cross, but he carried on until the. fourth round, when he was disqualified for an alleged foul. George did not . believe that lie bad bit his opponent low. and asked that he should be examined by a doctor, but the request was not grunted. and lie himself was taken to hospital. It had. been ('gorge's intention to remain in New Zealand for matches, but a<3 Lis jaw injury will keep him out of the game for four months he is going straight through to Sydney.
