NORTHERN ROLLER MIL.LS. SILO BLOCK EXTENSION. ISSUE OF FRESH CAPITAL. To finance the construction of a new silo block on freehold premises "in Fort Street, the directors of the Northern Holler Milling Company, Ltd., have decided to issue 25,000 ordinary shares at £1 8/. The shares are first being I offered to shareholders, and the balance of the issue will be offered to the public ! from July 17 onward. I The works contemplated by the company entail large structural additions and the crection of a number of bins or containers for the storage, conditioning and handling of wheat. The authorised capital of the company comprises 300,000 ordinary and 100,000 cumulative preference shares of £1 each. Of this 200,000 ordinary arid 75,000 preference shares are at present allotted, making the paid capital £275,000. AUSTRALIAN IRON AND STEEL

Mr. C. 11. Iloskins, chairman and joint managing director of Australian Iron and Steel, Ltd., told shareholders at the annual meeting in Sydney that sales for tho first eight, months of the year had been tho lowest in the history of the company, but that for the remainder of tho year they had improved considerably. Unfortunately the improvement had not been sufficient to enable the various units of tho plant to work other than intermittently. The two Lithgow merchant bar mills had been transferred to Port Kcmbla and liad operated satisfactorily. Answering a shareholder, Mr. Hoskins said that the resumption of the payment of preference dividends was largely dependent upon an improvement of trade. Operations had been more satisfactory than had been anticipated, but business aotild not be maintained with spasmodic operations.
