LOWRY—RUSSELL.
Great interest was taken in a wedding which took place on Saturday at the little Crownthorpc Church, in Hawkc's Bay, when Mr. T. C. Lowry, the former Now Zealand cricket captain, eldest son of Mr. and .Mrs. T. IT. Lowry, of Okawa, Hawke's Bay, was married to Miss Marpot Russell, youngest daughter of MajorCjencral Sir Andrew Russell and Lady Russell, of Tuna Nui, Hastings. New Zealand native flora had been used to decorate the church in addition to roses, chrysanthemums and violets, and. the ceremony was performed by the Bishop of Waiapu, Bishop Williams, assisted bv the Rev. Canon Cubrick. The bride, who entered the clmrch with her father, wore a gown of pale parchment satin cut on classical vlines, the reverse side of the material being enhanced with inset bands of the brighter side which defined the hipline. The long sleeves of satin were puffed above the elbow, and from there fitted closely to the wrist. Her veil of beautiful old lace, lent by Miss Hilda Williams, was caught with a wreath of orange blossoms and formed a train. A slieaf of pink roses and maidenhair fern was carried. The two bridesmaids were Miss Jane Deans (Canterbury), niece of the bride, and Miss Christine Williams, of Frimlcv (cousin). Their picturesque frocks were I of blue panne velvet with square necks, high waists, and long skirts corded to the yokes of the frocks. Wreaths of blue velvet leaves encircled their heads, and they carried' Victorian posies of pink rosebuds, forget-me-nots, and maidenhair fern. Mr. A. T. Donnelly, of Christcliureh, was beet man. Following the ceremony, the guests,, comprising relatives only, were entertained by Sir Andrew and Lady Russell at Tuna Nui. Lady Russell wore a frock of navy blue silk with shoulder spray of early spring flowers, and navy blue hat, with sable fijrs. ; , Mrs. T. H. Lowry, the bridegroom's mother, was in black embossed georgette with cluster of violets on one shoulder and black hat with feathers..
