TE AWAMUTU TRACK.
RURI'S PLEASING EFFORT. The course proper next to the rails was available at Te Awaniutu yesterday morning for horses with engagements at the Te Kuiti meeting. Other tracks mad.e u<se of were the plough and inner grass. Ruri pleased by the manner in which he got to the end of a mile (the last six furlongs in company with Marechal) in 1.48. This horse has done well of late, and should be prominent to-morrow. Joined at the 6even-furlong post by Goodfellow, Sir Musk went a mile in 1.56, the first half taking 1.1. Beryl Latour finished slightly ahead of Kanapa and clear of Jonathan at the conclusion of six furlongs, occupying 1.18.3-5. , From -a barrier start, Protomint ran seven furlongs in 1.34. He was accompanied over the first part by Matakokiri and Transaction, the former jjulling up after going three furlongs, and the latter after getting to the end of the first half-mile in 555. From an uneven start, Dust Up led Sea Ruler over the early stages of a fivefurlong gallop, but they finished together to'clock 1.5 Ms. Rita's Light was moving freely at the end of six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. Emancipation cleared- right away from Gallant Jack when schooled over /ive fences, on the steeplechase course. Both jumped well, especially Emancipation, who is in great order, but Gallant Jack showed little speed. Although she is an acceptor for Te Kuiti to-morrow, it is unlikely that Beryl Latour will be paraded, as her owner, has decided that she is not a reliable racehorse, although capable of good track work. Bad luck continues to be Limeen's lot, her latest mishap being an injury to her hip, and she is now in a bad way. Limccn will need a long spell.
SNOW PRINCE AT ELLERSLIE. The Whangarei owner-trainer .1. Hoey arrived from the North yesterday evening with Snow Prince, who will contest jumping events at the Great Northern meeting. The chestnut gelding was schooled over a couple of lurrdles this morning, giving a satisfactory jumping display. Snow Prince is in first-rate condition, and has evidently done well since he raced at the Whangarei meeting, where he won a mile flat event on the second day.
