RACING AT IE RAPA.

THE TE KUITI MEETING. LARGE FIELDS ENGAGED. THE EVENTS. REVIEWED. The Te Kuiti Racing Club's annual meeting will open at Te Rapa tomorrow and conclude on Monday. Large fields have been paid up for in most of the events and some excellent racing should be witnessed. The win and place betting system wiii ~De in operation, and if fine •weather prevails the meeting is sure to be well patronised by the public. The, Kopaki Hurdles. Racing will commence with the Kopaki Hurdles, for which 23 horses have been paid up for. The class is not strong and Thespis, despite his weight, is sure to be in demand and will be hard to beat. Free Air has also shown useful iorm over hurdles and should be in the money. Standfast has shown no form for some time, and this also applies to Pendennis. Marble King has previously won over hurdles and will get support, while Unoco is a possibility. Principal, who is well seasoned, also appeals and should go well. Ruby Meteor, Radiant Sun, Royal England <<nd Gargen read best of the others. Most money may come for THESPIS FREE AIR PRINCIPAL. A Large Field. The Maiden Handicap contains the largest field on the card, and the issue is a Yery open one. The two top-weights, Transaction and Miss Lulu, have both been in the money recently and are certain to get support. Diversion is also speedy and her prospects cannot be overlooked in this class. Sub-station, Twenty-four Carat, Kind Words, Phiakuo, Val Watch, Queen Nassau and Revelation have all shown speed in their recent races and should show up during the running. Recent form points to TRANSACTION MISS LULU DIVERSION. The Steeplechase. There are only seven acceptors in the King Country Steeplechase, but a good race should result, as there are several well-performed cross-countrv candidates in tha list. Billy Boy has a big weight, but if he goes to the post can be depended on to put up a first-class effort. Make Up and Lucess both schooled well at Te Rapa yesterday morning and this pair will be dangerous. Wiltshire and Master Lu are both reliable jumpers, but have shown little form for some time. Neil has nad some experience over big fences and schooled well at Ellerslie yesterday. The public are likely to support LUCESS MAKE UP BILLY BOY. The President's. lloyal Artist heads the list in the Presidents Handicap, but" the ground is likely to be against him to-morrow. Flying Prince has won twice over a mile and a quarter this season and should show up to-morrow, but Lady Quex has nothing to commend her over the distance. Speedmint ran a sterling race at Pultekohe after getting badly left, and if started in this event in preference to the sprint race is eure to be one of the favourite.selections. Gibraltar's form at Egmont was also encouraging and he should be in the money. Alloy is consistent and should account for Limeen and .Tarporley; as the latter may be in need of a race. Run. whose latest form has been good, should account for those lower down, of whom Teels, Grand Tea and Chang appeal most. The bulk of the investments should come *° r SPEEDMINT GIBRALTAR RURI. The.Hack Sprint. Another large field has been paid up for Jn the Otorohanga Handicap, including several recent winners. Woodful headsthe list, and if at his best is sure to run a solid race. Imamint was in the money at Avondale and Pukekohe and is sure to get support, as also will Puss Moth, wiio Tan a solid race at the Franklin meeting. Mahkill is a speedy hack, and her recent track work has been good. Holly Lu will mot start. Rita's Light won on this course in March, but has not been in the money since.' Sinking Fund, Intaglio, Golden Sceptre and Dark Marble, snould also show up, and Chief Lap, Valrema and Colossical may spring a surprise. The favourite trio may be PUSS MOTH WOODFULL IMAMINT. Open Hurdle Event. Prince of Orange, who heads the handicap in the Te Kuiti Hurdles, has been schooling well at Ellerslie and should have excellent prospects to-morrow, for lie is a vastly improved horse since he contested the Brighton Hurdles last month. Cvuachan is a useful performer in this department and has previously won on the Te Rapa course. Paddon was backward in condition when he contested the Brighton Hurdles and may still be in need of further racing. Emancipation is a promising hurdler and looks certain to be in the money, while True Blood, if improved since he won at Whangarei, should also show up. High Commissioner won very easily at Pukekohe and has good prospects an this race. Biform is also entitled to respect. The bulk of the money is likely to be invested on PRINCE OF ORANGE • EMANCIPATION HIGH COMMISSIONER. The Stewards' Handicap. Several smart sprinters figure in the Stewards' Handicap, and on recent form Tradesman, British Columbia and Sea Ruler are likely to be hard to beat. Huntingdon and Prince Val have not raced for some months and can hardly be ready to run out a solid six furlongs. Speedmint, if reserved 'for' this race, will get support, and on past form Prolyxo, Jonathan and Miladi will' have to be considered. Desert Star is another likely to be in the picture at the finish. The'main fancies should be TRADESMAN BRITISH COLUMBIA SEA RULER. The Rangitoto. The day's racing will conclude with the Rangitoto Hack event, for which Gay Broney and Master Norval are sure to be in strong demand. Gigantic appeals best of the remainder, of whom Princess Bede, Blanford, Searcher and Colossical are possibilities. Betting in this event is sure to be brisk, with most support coming for GAY BRONEY MASTER NORVAL GIGANTIC. The programme Is as follows: — 11.40 —KOPAKI HURDLES of lOOsovs. One mile and a half.
