GISBORNE. Mies Colleen Blackbunv Kaiti, has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Ancel, Makaraka, are visiting Hamilton. Miss Phyllis Hudson, who has been spending a holiday as the guest of Mrs. Scannell, Arney Crescent, Remuera, will return to Gisborne during the week-end. Mrs. and Mies Walker, of Belfast, arrived from Auckland 011 Tuesday, and are staying with Mrs. Jackman, Tolaga Bay. Miss Moya Hegarty, Kaiti, is the guest of Miss N. Steele, Tahunga. Miss Elsie Beattie is the guest of Mrs. Gordon Wilson, Tolaga Bay. Mr. and Mrs. W. Clark, "Opou," returned from Napier on Wednesday. Mrs. Norman Hastings is the guest of Mrs. R. L. McLean, Gisborne. Miss' Hoffey, Auckland, is the guest of Mrs. A. Whelan, Kaiti. Mrs. L. Absoloin, Gisborne, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. T. Braae, Opotiki. Miss Jocelyn Crawford, Mangapapa, returns this week-end, after spending a holiday at Onnond, as the guest of her sister, Mrs. W. H. Jackson. Mrs. Ralph Kemp, Ruatoria, has returned from a holiday trip to Wellington, and is now the guest of Mrs. E. G. Matthews, Kaiti. Mi6s Joyce von Rein, Hangaroa, is spending a holiday in Wairoa. Mrs. H. W. Black, Bayly Road, is leaving for Auckland this week-end. Mrs. J. Faulkner, Havelock North, who has been spending a holiday as the guest of Mrs. A. J. Faulkner, Wairakaia, Muriwai, returned to Hawke's Bay 011 Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Owen Williams, Patutahi, are spending a holiday with Mr. and Mrs. W. Williams, Christcliurch. Mrs. W. Hamilton-Irvine, Riverside Road, is attending the capping ceremonies at Dunedin. Miss E. McCarthy, Gisborne, is staying with her mother, Mrs. A. McCarthy, Dunedin.

MATAMATA. A dance was held by the Adelplii Cabaret Band in the Matamata Town Hall on Tuesday night, when solos were played by the pianist and the banjoist. A supper extra was played by Miss N. OPOTIKI. Mrs. G. R. Wilkin, who has been spending a lengthy holiday in Opotiki as tlio guest of Miss E. Reid, "Burnside," has returned to her home, Arawa Street, Mount Eden. Miss Val. White, of Orakau Avenue, Epsom, is spending her holidays with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. T. Urquhart, of Opotiki. Mrs. T. Breed left Opotiki on Thursday for Raurimu, to which station her husband, Constable Breed, has been appointed officer in charge. Miss R. Louden, of Auckland, is a visitor to Opotiki as the guest of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Fleming. Miss A. Louden, principal of the Epsom Girls' Grammar School, and Miss Hutton, sports mistress of the | school, arrived in Opotiki on Thursday. They will be the guests of Miss Louden's sister, Mrs, C. H. Fleming.
