ILL-TREATED HORSE.
TWO CHINESE FINED £3. Proseeuted by Inspector Hollingsworth, of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Ah Jap and Ah Lee, two Chinese market gardeners, of Mount Roskill, were charged in the Police Court to-day with cruelly illtreating a horse. The inspector said the horse was being worked in a plough at Mount Roskill on Good Friday. It had two sores on the shoulder under the collar. Mr. Meredith appeared for the defendants, each of whom pleaded guilty. He said the animal had not been worked very long. After the inspector had seen the horse it was spelled, and was now quite well. There was no suggestion that the cruelty was in any way deliberate. Each Chinese was fined £3 and costs.
