NO RIVALS?
CHAMPION TROTTER. SYDNEY OWNER'S CHALLENGE NEW ZEAI/ANDER>' CHANCES, (By Telegraph —Special to " Star."} CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. L. Martin's challenge to race any trotter or pacer in the world with Walla Walla for £500 a side lias caused a stir in local trotting circles, but it is unlikely that his challenge will be accepted by a New Zealand owner, much less by ail American enthusiast. It is assumed that the contest would take place in Sydney. The outstanding performance of Walla Walla at Sydney, when he paced a mile on a half-mile track in 2.2 2-5, has impressed light harness enthusiasts so much that it is unlikely that any horse in America or New Zealand coukl journey to Sydney and defeat the Australian champion. No doubt the most likely horses in New Zealand to make a contest with Walla Walla are Harold Logan and Roil' Or. At the moment Harold Logan and Roi l'Or are both out of commission. Eveii at their very best few New Zealanders would be prepared to take either Harold Logan or Poi l'Or to Sydney to race Walla Walla. If the Australian champion visits New Zealand then there is a possibility of his meeting both Roi l'Or and Harold Logan.
