AUCKLAND CLTJB. Ideal weather conditions prevailed for the Auckland Cycle Club's road events on Saturday at Tamaki. The* junior race was over eight miles and the -senior over 20J miles. Only four juniors were present and the race resulted:—N. Whiting (3.30), time 24.44, 1; C. Rafferty (1.0), 2. The winner led all the way, to win easily, the pair being the only ones to finish, the others , meeting with mishaps. Rafferty gained time honours in 23.4. Twenty-six riders started in the senior eyent. Result: R. Halliday (3.45), time 58.50, }JV& Rollerson (5.15), 2; J. Sampson (5.15), 3; P. Bicknell (3.15), 4. Fastest time was recorded by Jack Cooney (1.30) l Jl .??- 12 - Bicknell was next fastest time, 58.24. MANUKATJ AMATEURS. Two road races were run off by the Manukau Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday. There was only a faint wind. Fast times were registered Dy all competitors, and towards the close of the senior contest the field was materialy reduced through riders retiring. The junior five miles race attracted six starters. Another keen duel between the scratch rider, Wheelhouse, and E. B. Hansen, and L. C. Craddock, brightened a fairly dull race. Dwight, off limit, had such a big lead after the first lap of two miles and a half that only an accident could have prevented him from finishing an easy winner. He won by 1.9. Successful juniors were :— Chas. Dwight, (2.45), 15.52 1 Eddie R. Hansen (30s), 14.45 2 G. W. Holland (1.30), 15.46 3 h. C. Craddock (80s), 14.50 4 G. H. Wheelhouse (scr) again secured time honours. He rode the five miles in 14.27, to beat Hansen by 18 seconds for fastest time. Twenty-four seniors raced in their eightlap race of 20 miles. R. Foubister, L. Dwight and E. Andrews were on scratch, with H. Browne and EL Mullane, their nearest rivals, on 2m and J. C. Fanch, the limit rider, on 8.15. After a wonderful exhibition, one which enthusiasts have now come to expect from him, Foubister finished sixth. His time, 56.54, for the strenuous and hilly course, was 2.12 better than that of J. Hall, the next best on time. Foubister's performance confirms the belief that he is purely a road rider. Placed seniors were:— J. H. Rose (7.0), riding time, 61.24 . 1 C. Hansen (5.0), 59.50 2 J. C. Ideal weather conditions helped the good muster of fifteen riders who faced the starter for the 183 miles race of the Lynndale Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club on their home circuit at Now Lynn. The two limit men, off 18i minutes, were McCurdy and Morris, and the virtual scratch men were C. Gooder and C. Johnson (ljm). V. Harris (12Jm) won comfortably and also gained fifth fastest time. This was good riding for his first attempt. L. Roberts and McCurdy had the misfortune to break their chains, while A. Gooder and K. Hankin punctured. All the rest finished. C. Gooder outsprinted C. Johnson and gained fastest time, 59.17 3-5. He also broke the lap record of 18.26 by 325, making the lap time 18.24. Detailed results:—V. Harris 12.30), time 61.7, 1; A. Davies (12.65), 65.0, 2; H. TAKAPUNA CLUR The Takapuna Amateur Cycling Club held a 30-mile road race on Saturday for the Harrison Cup. The weather was perfect and the track in fine order. Sixteen riders started, and in a close finish B. Evans, who had 4.0 start, won from A. Grant, who started from the 2.0 mark. V. Blomfield (30s) was third. Blomfield made fastest time, 81.13. The times of the other two placed men were 84.27 and 82.7, respectively. A junior out-and-home race of 10 miles was won by P. Bowden (5.0), whose time was 34.16. Second man was M. Hathaway (3.0), whose time was 35.5. Fastest time was made by O. McKee, who started from, scratch and completed the distance in 30.22, arriving in third place. PAPATOETOE CLUB. Saturday's 18-mile road race resulted as follows:—C. W. Allen (3.0) 1, I. Bellini (455) 2, E. Morris (3.30) 3, R. L. Francis (2.0) 4. R. Gibbs .(9.0) 5. Fastest time, I. Bellini, 57.36 v Won by half a wheel. The first four only caught the limit man. R. Gibbs, about 200 yards from home, and a hard finish resulted. WHAKATANE CLUB.(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHAKATANE, Saturday. The Whakatane Cycle Club's road race of 10i miles was held in perfect weather. Result:—G. Green (2.0) 1, R. Harland (2.0) 2, Robert Watson (2.0) S. The finish was very close, the riders being in a bunch. Fastest time: J. Whitten (scr.), 27.33 3-5. Whitten beat Doncaster (scr.) by two lengths In the sprint for the line. Hansen and Eberhart (scr.) retired. THAMES CLUB. *'*. The Thames Cycle Club held Its second road race of the season on Saturday, 11 riders facing the starter for an 18-mlles race. Result:—C. Billings (2.0), 1; K. Bdkins (2.0), 2; C. Ware (scr), 8. The finish was an exciting one, Billings winning by a length.
