CHURCH MEETINGS.

ST. GEORGE'S, PAPATOETOE.

PARISHIONERS' INTEREST

The annual parishioners' meeting of St. George's Anglican Church, Papatoetoe, was held in the Church Hall last evening, the vicar, Rev. T. Partridge, presiding.

The balance-sheet showed that the church was in a sound financial position. Discussion arose as to the advisability of the custom of passing the collection plate around at the services, and it was decided to place an offertory box at zhe door instead. Votes of sympathy were accorded Mr. and Miss Gane and Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Nicholson in connection with recent bereavements. In recognition of his past long service to the church, Mr. Gane, who is unable to take active interest through illness, the meeting passed a hearty vote of thanks. Mr. Gane has been a very active member of the church for the past 25 years, since the time when the services were held in the Papatoetoe public school, and several parishioners expressed their sorrow at losing his services.

The election of officers resulted as follows: Vestry, Messrs. C. B. Page (secretary), W. J. Nicholson (treasurer), D. Burnside, H. M. Didsbury, C. Nicholson, T. Smith, H. Pulliene, D. Wily, J. C. Burrow, and T. Sibley; auditor, Mr. T. R. Smytheman; church warden, Mr. E. D. Wilkinson; people's warden, Mr. R. E. Smith; Synod representative, Mr. H. M. Didsbury.
