BIG PROGRAMME ARRANGED.
TWO HUNDRED COMPETITORS
A start was made to-day with the big programme of the University inter-college tournament, nearly 200 students having arrived from the South for the activities. Tennis matches commenced at Stanley Street this afternoon, when, the oight-oar race was also contested. The boxing championship finals are to lie held in the Town Hall this evening. The fina s of the tennis championships will be held at Stanley Street on Tuesday. On Monday, at the Domain, athletic events _ will be decided, and the swimming carnival will be held in the evening at the Tepid Baths.
Provision Is made In the "Universiiy sports programme on Monday for two open handicap events, in which it is hoped prominent local runners outside the i'außS or the students will take part. Ihe distances are 150 yards and 1000 yards.
