There were only 41 entries, three from the North Island, for the .South Island rifle shooting championships Itesults: — , Canterbury Match, A grade, 10 shots at 300 yds.— £3, Searle (Nelson), 48; £2. Masefield (Marlborough), 48; £1 10/, N. Nanssen (Nelson), 48. K. Fowler (Marlborough) won the B grade match with 47. Westland Match, 10 shots at 500 yds.— £2 10/, R. Jordan (Westport) and H. Henderson, each scored 49. P. Neal won th« B grade match with 48. Otago Match, 10 shots at 500 yds.— £3, Masefield, 50; £2, W. Coleman, ,40; P. Neal won the B grade match with 40. Nelson Match, 10 shots at 600 yds.— £3, Maselield, 49; £2, Mltcliener (Nelson), 47. A. Hammond won the B grade match with 46. Blenheim Match, 10 shots at 600 yds.— £3. Masefield, 48; £2, L. Pask, 48. F. Silvius won the B grade match. Masefield won the Midfield aggregate with 244, H. Mcintosh being second with 232. The Murray Cup, for the best score in the 500 yds matches, Colonel Smith's trophy for the best scores at 300 yds and 500 yds, and the trophy for the 600 yds match; were won by Masefield with scores of 90, 147, and 146.
