SILVER BETTER.
OBLIGED HIS CUSTOMERS.
FRUITERER FIXED £10,
"When his premises were raided on Saturday, very little betting material was found," .said Detective-Sergeant McHugh, in the Police Court yesterday, after Henry William Frederick Nippert, aged 40, a fruiterer, had admitted that he used his premises at Great North Road as a common gaming house.
Mr. McHugh added that Nippert was not in a big way of business, and was only a silver better who obliged his customers. He had never been in trouble before. • ■ Nippert told the magistrate that he made very little out of taking a few small bets from customers.
"The law does not allow you to oblige friends in this manner," said Mr. W. R. McKean in fining Nippert £10.
