ST. LEGER CANDIDATE. The-Great Northern St. Leger candidate Jonathan is reported to be doing a solid picparation at Te Awamutu, and his effort in running six furlongs on the course proper 24 feet out from the rails on Thursday morning at that' centre, was a good one. Although he will be up against two highclass gallopers in Silver Scorn and Gold Trail in the classic race at EUerslie, the son of Thespian can be depended upon to acquit himself creditably.
