Thomson, Box 10, Whangarei. GOVERNMENT TAXATION. RECENT THAMES MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") THAMES, this day. The total amount of taxation paid to the Government by the Thames Trotting Club in connection with its -annual race meeting last week was £1708 4/8, made up of totalisator tax, £754 6/; dividend tax, £824 5/; stakes tax, £78 10/; and amusement tax, £51 2/8. A FINE TROTTER. Chiefly on account of his owner being heavily engaged in farming pursuits, the gelding Trampfast has not raced since November, 1931. His entry in the.Champion Trotters' Handicap at Addington at Easter suggests that Mr. W. T. Lowe has found time to give his fine trotter another preparation. At his best, Trampfast has few equals. In October, 1929, he won the Oamaru Handicap from Travis Axworthy and Jolly Pet. In that contest he met. Travis Axworthy on equal terms. Shortly after that he annexed the President's Handicap at Forbury, which contest he won in a stylish manner. On that form his prospects were' regarded very highly. His owner states that Trampfast is in good order, and he expects him to strike form.
