RUGBY FOOTBALL.
AUSTRALIAN VISITORS. UNIVERSITY TEAM'S TOUR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. Advice has been received that the Australian Universities Rugby football team will not leave for New Zealand until May 12. It is probable that the visiting; team's first match will be played at Auckland on May 17. TO-MORROW'S PRACTICES. Training operations among Rugby clubs will begin early this season. Already College Rifles, Training College and Grammar Old Boys intend to have their first practice to-morrow, the two former at the Show Grounds and the Old Boys at the Grammar School grounds. Technical Old Boys intend using the Green Lane ground from Saturday next, while many other clubs have made arrangements for preliminary practices. With a month in front of them teams should strip fit on opening day, which in all probability will bo April 29. ROTORUA UNION. The annual meeting of the Rotorua Rugby Union was well attended. The president, Mr. T. S. Robertson, presided. Mr. J. Windiiler was appointed sole selector for the junior- grades, and Messrs. N. Mcßae, H. Rogers and S. Emery selectors for the senior grades. It was decided that the opening of the season should take place on April 22. It was agreed that the executive committee should give consideration to the limiting of the senior grades and start a third grade competition. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. W. Galbraith; president, Mr. T. S. Robertson; vice-presidents, Messrs. B. G. Fraser, A. G. Holland, A. Walden, D. Steele, E. De Luen and H. W. Fuller; lion, surgeons, Drs. H. Bertram, W. S. Wallis, S. 11. Hay and R. Dorset; secretary, Mr. W. S. Henderson; committee, Messrs. A. G. Cotterel, T. Anderson, L. Dixon, M. Henderson, H. Rogers and J. Windeler.
