PRIMARY SCHOOL SPORTS.
LOWER WAIKATO MEETING. The second annual sports meeting of the Lower Waikalo Primary Schools' Amateur Athletic Association was held on Wednesday in the Domain Grounds nt Huntly. The weather was perfect and attracted a large attendance of parents and visitors from all parts of the district. Over 1000 school children, representing 10 schools in and around Huntly, took part in the racing and other events. At tho conclusion of the events the cups, which were donated by the Herbert Smith Trust, were presented by the headmaster of- the Hiiiilly District iiigh School. Mr. It. C. D. Llghtbournft, who congratulated the winners on tlie'.r success. Ho also thanked all those who had assisted tu making the sports such a pronounced success. The cups were won as follows :— A Grade Schools.—Girls and boys' cups: Huntly District ITigli School. B Grade Schools.—Girls' Cup: Orini and Ngaruawahia. equal. Boys' cup: Ngarua;wahla Convent. Tho schools which won tho following live open events wore each presented with a large silver cup and a miniature was presented to each of the individual winners:— Girls' 75 yards: M. Ilutchinson (Tnupiri). Boys' 100 yards: It. Brooks (Iluntly District High School. Boys! 220 yards: J. Pearco (Taupiri). Boys' 440 yards: J. Garnham (Orini). Boys' 880 yards: A. Sefton (Rotowaro). Other events resulted as follows:—High Jump: R. Sylvester (Taupiri), 4ft 3ln. Long lump : R. Brooks (Huntly District High School), 14ft l.Oin. Hop,, step and I jump: Keoghan (Ngaruawahia Convent), 33ft 21n.
HAMILTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL. ! The senior and junior mile championship events of the Hamilton Technical High School wore decided at Seddon Park on Wednesday afternoon. In tho junior championship the existing record of 5.25 4-5 wns beaten by 4-5s by W. Goosman, Results :— One Mile Senior Championship. —N. Charlton 1, G. Knox 2, C. Green 3. Time, 5.23. One Mile Junior Championship.—W. Goosman 1, A. Fagan 2, J. Mason 3. Time, The other events run in connection with the annual sports, which will be held on April 7, resulted : — One Mile (open).—N.
