STABLE AND TRACK NOTES.

LEFT FOR THE SOUTH. The hurdle horseman H. Dulieu left for the south yesterday to school Miss Hushaby e and Dick Whittington at Levin, who aro in W. Yuille's stable. He will afterwards go across to WoodvAJle to school Jayson, on whom he has wort several races. LIKELY TO MAKE GOOD. The- Paper Money two-year-old My Money is displaying plenty of. speed in his work at Ellerslie, and if taken to Whangarei he should be a possibility in minor events. So far he has not done much racing, owing to the fact that he is growing fast, but he is now more solid-looking than formerly and should eventually develop into a. really good sort. CHIEF COOK'S PROGRESS. Since returning to Ellerslie after competing at country meetings. Chief Cook was given a course of physic, and in consequence was eased up for a few days. He is now in regular work again and is going along in a satisfactory manner. I his horse has come through his racing really well and P. Scally ehould have him in great order for the Auckland autumn meeting. ' A USEFUL PAIR. The two stablematcs Master Brierly and Chief Joy have made good progress since they came to Ellerslie, and both are hitting out in their work with plenty of freedom. They are entered for events at the Auckland autumn meeting, and if they continue to go on as they are now doing they should be at their best for that fixture. Master Brierly von the Grey Handicap, one mile, at Ellerslie at New Year's time and should be a good prospect in hack events at the approaching fixture. IN REGULAR WORK AGAIN. Absent, who had to be eased up owing to staking himself in the foot while schooling over the big fences at Paeroa recently, is in regular work again under E. C. Kae s charge. Since recovering he has not .been given any strenuous tasks, most of his work being confined to steady pacing on the graes. Before leaving for Paeroa the roan gelding was in first-class condition, and it was hard luck for his ownertrainer that he should meet with injuries that precluded him • from fulfilling his engagements there. ON THE IMPROVE. The four-year-old maiden Golden Spahi has never looked better than he does at present and he is also displaying marked improvement in his track work. He has not had a great amount of racing, and, like the majority of the family, has taken some time to get properly seasoned. He is a full-brother to Lomint, who won the Cornwall Handicap, Chamour, who was a very promising sort when he met with fatal injuries, and Catoma. Golden Spahi has been entered for the Whangarei meeting, but he is not likely to make the trip.

DOING SOLID PREPARATION. A. Julian is giving Prince of Orange plenty of strong work on the flat, and he may be given a race in the open handicap at Whangarei, which should tune him up for his Brighton Hurdles contest. Previous to racing over hurdles this gelding showed some speed on the flat, one of his best efforts being his success in the Wynyard Plate, seven furlongs, at Takapuna. He has not been given a great amount of schooling, but in view of his previous performances and the fact that he is a natural jumper, that should not be against him. A NOVICE HURDLER. Few maiden hurdlers at Ellerslie have shown more promise than Llanore, who has taken very kindly to the jumping business Yesterday morning she was schooled over six flights of hurdles, and, with the exception of getting rather close to one of the obstacles, her display was a firstclass one. She jumped cleanly and cleverly and registered fast time over the I four concluding jumps. J. Chisholm has the brown mare looking in great fettle, and it will be pleasing to see him getting an early return for the patience he has expended on Llanore.
