WARSHIPS' MOVEMENTS.
ISLAND CRUISES ARRANGED. Leaving Auckland on Wednesday next, H.M.s. Diomede is to join H.M.s. Dunedin, which is already in the Hauraki Gulf, for combined gunnery exercises. They are to spend the week-end at Kawau, and return to port- on February 15. On February 21 both cruisers will leave for Whangaroa, and will later visit Southern ports. H.M.s. Diomede's stay at Wellington, where her ratings were to land for musketry practice at Trentham, has been cancelled, and she is to return here early in April. H.M.s. Diomede will probably leave Auckland for Samoa and Rarotonga on April 11, taking the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, on an official visit. On her return, Commodore Burgee Watson will transfer his broad pennant to the Dunedin, which will leave for the Islands about the middle of the year, while the Diomede undergoes, overhaul at Devonport.
