LAND RATE.
WHAKGABEI HARBOUR. BOARD (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day. The Whangarei Harbour Board meeting yesterday decided to strike the flret land rate in its history. The special committee set up to consider the financial position recommended: "(a) That a rate of Id in the £ on the unimproved values of the rateable area of the Whangarei Harbour district be struck and collected for the year ending September 30, 1933; (b) that the 'board itself collect the rate." The committee was of opinion that the rate for the year 1934 would be much reduced. It was moved and seconded that the recommendation be approved. After discussion the motion was carried.
