CITY MISSION.
CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES. The Auckland City Mission is a hive of industry these days. For months past the men's carpentry guild of voluntary workers, many of them skilled tradesmen, have been making toys for youngsters, and most of these were distributed at the Christmas Tree in the Civic Theatre on Saturday last. Members of the guild have also been improving Sister Pat's camp at Oneroa, Waiheke. She will take into camp about 150 children during the summer holidays. The first batch of youngsters will leave on Tuesday, December 27, the second and third lote following in due course. The camp ie fitted with every modern convenience for the eafe and happy care of children. A qualified nurse is in attendance all the time, and previous camps have been characterised by remarkably good health. In addition to the above, a large number of families are supplied with Chrietmas parcels, and the liste of these are always compared with those of other social workers through the central bureau, so that there is no possibility of overlapping. Gifts of foodstuffs, toys or other suitable presents, such as cigarettes and tobacco, are always welcomed, in .addition to cash donations and clothing.
The riiissioner, the Rev. Jasper Caldcr, reports that the mission is having a very hard time, but he has every confidence that the public will realise that the need this year is greater than ever, and will support the work tlio mission is doing.
