HARBOUR BRIDGE SCHEME.
COMMENT AT NORTHCOTE. The resignation.of the Northeote representative from the directorate of the Auckland Harbour Bridge Company, Mr. A. W. Christmas, was notified to the Northcote Borough Council at its meeting last evening. The Mayor, Mr. R. Martin, said that the Act required that the vacancy should be filled as eqon as practicable, but he thought it would be advisable to wait to see whether the Auckland City Council and the Auckland Harbour Board intended to take any action. Mr. Martin said he had attended a meeting of North Shore and Waitemata County representtaives, when a deputation had been appointed to ask the company if it was able or prepared to do anything in.connection with the project. He made it clear that he was not advocating a rating area.
