CYCLE ROAD RACE.
From Te Puke to Whakatane Bay of Plenty Championship.

TE PUKE, this day.
Considerable interest was taken in <i cycle race promoted by the Whakatane Cycle Club which started from Te Puke at noon to-day, the course being to Whakatane, a distance of 47 miles, for the Bay of Plenty championship. There were ten starters, and a large crowd witnessed the start.
The limit man was E. Ryan, receiving 29 minutes, and the scratch men Stewart, Aberhart, and Hansen. The weather conditions were fair, there being a following wind, but the state of the roads from Te Puke to Paengaroa is not good.
After the race, at Whakatane, the Mayor, Mr. W. Sullivan, will present a cup and other trophies, including a medal for the fastest time.
