Surprise in Hurdles.

FAVOURITE RUNS THIRD

Prince of Orange Has Matters All His Own Way.

Backers stepped off on the wrong foot when they sized the Trial Hurdles field up, and decided the issue to be between Sub-Editor and Patutahi, the former being favourite, carrying £345 and Patutahi £300. Prince of Orange, who won, was entrusted with £134, and paid a fair price. Sleepy Sol led oyer the first fence from Prince of Orange, but the latter soon ran into the lead and was in front passing the stand from Sleepy Sol, Slump, Carlaris, Sub-Editor, Cargen, Town Beauty, Patutahi and Trowbridge. Along the back Prince of Orange was out four lengths in front of Patutahi, who had put in a good run. Slump was racing in third place, with Sub-Editor next. Patutahi was within half a length of Prince of Orange at the home turn, and three lengths back followed SubEditor, with Slump next, but some distance away. Prince of Orange had matters all his own way to the judge and, won easily by four lengths from Patutahi, with Sub-Editor three lengths away. Slump, Sleepy Sol, Town Beauty, Cargen, Carlaris and Trowbridge followed, Trowbridge pulling up lame. Pillow Fight Beaten.
