DECISION TO DISBAND.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMMITTEE.
"MEETINGS BECOMING POLITICAL."
(By Telegraph.—Special to "Star." )
PALMERSTON NORTH, this day.
The Palmerston North Unemployment Committee to-day decided to disband, following a long discussion in which members said th© meetings were developing into political discussions and only dealt with a few minor applications.
Prior to this decision Mr. V. Christensen (Labour) moved that the chairman, Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., resign, as "hie attitude in voting for the Government on a no-confidence motion is not in keeping with his actions as. chairman of the local committee." This was defeated, whereupon the decision to disband was made, as it was felt the committee could serve no useful purpose by continuing. Future business will be transacted by the certifying officer.
