GOLF CHAMPIONS.
NEW ZEALAND OPEN TITLE. CHANGES IN SECOND ROUND. MOSS AND FULLER MOVE UP. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") HERETAUNGA, this day. At the Dominion golf championships conditions were much the same for the continuation of the open championship at Heretaunga this morning, when the third round was played. The wind was light at the comimeucement, but will probably become stronger and gusty as the day proceeds, characteristic of the last two days. The second round yesterday afternoon; saw SluiWj 'champion for the past three years, take the lead- as the result of a round of 72. This, performance was equalled by Rutter, the Glendo>vie professional, and the next best cards were 7o by Douglas, the veteran Arthur Duncan, Millard (Canterbury amateur champion) and' Fuller, a young professional. ' Ross, who took three putts on the last green, and Butters each completed the round in 7(i, while Harold Black, after virtually the best performance of the morning, and Silk slipped to 77 and 78 respectively. Fuller, at 151, looks a possibility, as he is playing with plenty of confidence and managing tlie fast greens, which call for delicacy of touch as well. Douglas, four strokes behind the leader, might have been equal with him but for falling a victim to the baffling short fifteenth hole on each round. Situated on a high-plateau, mashie distance from the tec, this hole is proving .difficult because 'of the necessity of gauging, the carry accurately,' anil being short of the pin on landing, or failure to carry.; the green sees? the ball bounce back from the bank to the hazard below. It is a bogey three, and Douglas marred his cafds with a six and a five on the first two rounds. -
