BOWLING.
SOUTH AUCKLAND CENTRE. At." a meeting' of tlie South Auckland Bowling Centre at Hamilton it was decided to .play off Auckland's, challenge for the Hardley Shield (at Hamilton)' on or before December 15. Applications from the Hamilton /and i Claudelands - Clubs for permission to hold three-day tournaments at New Year were declined, the opinion being expressed that tournaments during that period woidd be detrimental to the success of the centre's tournament at .Christmas. It was decided to suggest to the two clubs concerned that one-day tournaments on separate days at New Year would be favourably considered. An application from the Matamata Club for a one-day tournament on Boxing Day was refused. Advice was received from the Taranaki Bowling Centre that it had accepted the South Auckland Centre's invitation for a party of Taranaki bowlers to visit Hamilton. The date, early iii Mjvrch, was approved.
