AUCKLAND CENTRE. CHAMPIONS FROM OVERSEAS. MISS O'MEARA'S TREATMENT AT OLYMPIC GAMES. At last night's annual meeting of the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association officers elected were:—Patron, the Mayor, Mr. G. W. Hutchison; vice-patron, Mr; S. Milne; president, Mr. E. H. Potter; vicepresidents, Messrs. G. L. Taylor, J. F. Rendell, E. H. Little; chairman, Mr. R. Sheffield; vice-chairman, Mr. T. McCarthy; secretary, Mr. W. Batty; treasurer, Mr. T. McCarthy; auditor, Mr. A. L. Pike; inside auditor, Mr. W. Crump; handicapper, Mr. H. Moore; educational officer, Mr. C. F. Stratford; local officer, Mr. T. B. Mulvihill; official timekeepers, Messrs. E. Maude, A. Maude, M. Kronfeld, C. A. Edenborough; delegate to New Zealand Swimming Association, Mr. H. A. Toomey; official starter, Mr. H. Moore.

The North Shore Club made application to invite C. B. Phillips, open and junior champion of New South Wales, to visit Auckland next March to compete against Noel Crump at carnivals to be staged by the club. Providing permission was granted, a request that the centre negotiate toward this end was also made. It was decided to accede to the requests.

The North Shore Club also forwarded a complaint from the New Zealand ladies' breaststroke champion, Miss Margarie O'Meara, who alleged that during her visit to the Olympic Games in Los Angeles she was treated discourteously by the manager of the New Zealand team, Mr. P. N. Rundle. Miss O'Meara said Mr. Rundle refused to allow her to join the official New Zealand party and also to obtain for her visitors' privileges. It was only through the representations of the Australian manager, Mr. R. Eve, that she was able to gain admission to' the Olympic pool in older to see the foreign competitors training. It was resolved to request the New Zealand Council to obtain an explanation from the New Zealand Olympic and Empire Games Association. Mr. E. H. Potter, chairman of the meeting, referred to the loss sustained in the death of the late Messrs. W. J. Davidson and T. Lowe, two members of the centre. Mr. Potter congratulated the centre on its successes in the Dominion championships, and commented on the sound financial position, which was 75 per cent better, than last season, in spite of the difficult times.

A comprehensive report brought forward by the educational officer, Mr. C. F. Stratford, was the subject of very favourable comment. . ,

On the motion of Mr. W. O. Stockle.v, it was decided to seek the permission of the Australian Amateur Swimming Union for the champions (Clarence. Crabb and Mickey Riley) to give exhibitions when they pass through Auckland on December 5. Also to request the New Zealand Council to invite the Americans to tour New Zealand after they had completed tlipir Australian <>n easements.

NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

At a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association it was agreed that the intermediate and junior championships should be held at Invercargill on Januai'v 26, 27 and 28, and the senior championships at Napier on February 18, 20 and 22.

The council declined to agree to one of the championship carnivals being held at Hastings. The matter of a tour by prominent
