TE AWAMUTU TRACKS.

ELLERSLIE CANDIDATES. PROTOMINT PLEASES. The course proper, next to the rails, was available for the final gallops of Ellerslie candidates and two-year-olds at Te Awamutu yesterday. Other fast work was done about 30ft out on the same track. Next the Rails. The first to work on this track were Lucidus and Soloist, who ran six furlongs in 1.16 2-5. The last half occupied 60s. Lucidus was doing it easily. Foreign Money was accompanied by Palagia over half a mile in 48 l-ss. Pelagia is a doubtful starter at the meeting, having again developed shin soreness, which is a pity, as her prospects looked very bright. The two-year-old Gay Seton pleased while dashing over half a mile in 49%5. He could have done better. This colt will be ridden by E. Keesing in the Welcome Stakes. Impasto was accompanied by Trickling Waters over half a mile, which occupied 49 3-ss. Trickling waters was going the better. Rex Victor and the General Latour—March gelding placed three furlongs behind in 395. Rex Victor is showing much improvement in his work. Musquil, Master Rex and the Chief Ruler— Miss Sphinx filly started off together from the three-furlong peg. They were wellstrung out at the post, the Chief Ruler filly having the advantage from Musquil, with Master Rex a long way back. The Chief Ruler filly occupied 38s, Musquil 39 4-ss, and Master Rex 40s. Plough. Among those doing pacework on the plough were:-—Arawa Rose, Beryl Latour, Sea Ruler, Chateau, Foreign Money, Safe Bank, Sir Musk, Loombination and iyArtagnan. Departures for Ellerslie to-day are:— A. Cook (Lucidus, Soloist and Gay Seton); J. W. C&thro (Foreign Money); A. Rowan i (Protorohit). <
