"HARD TO BEAT ANYWHERE."

QUALITY AT PALMERSTON NORTH. SOUTHDOWN SHEEP EXCEL. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. "We expect at a Royal Show to find the best and we have them. The display of Southdown sheep would be hard to 'beat in any part of the world. In fact, two or three English sheep at the show have failed to get a front seat." This was the comment made by the judge, Mr. W. J. Jcnkine, of Sheffield (Canterbury), in reviewing the open classes of Southdown sheep at the Royal Show. "Awards were allocated among several exhibitors," he added, "indicating that the dominance was not a monopoly of one stud flock. "I doubt if better quality has ever been seen at any Royal Show in New Zealand. It ie some years since I last judged at this centre. I believe that wool has improved during that time." All of the principal awards in the Southdown open classes were annexed by the Manawatu district.
