AUCKLAND FIXTURE

EXHIBITION IN FEB., 1934. INVERCARGILL WITHDRAWS CLAIM. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)' PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. At a meeting of the committee of the Royal Agricultural Society last evening a resolution was passed deciding that the next Royal Show be held at Auckland in the first week in February, 1934, to be followed by a Royal Show in Southland in December, 1934, subject to confirmation of this arrangement by the southern association.

A deputation consisting of Mr. S. Austin Carr, president, and Mr. W. F. O'Donnell, managing secretary, and Mr. J. P. Kalauglier, submitted the Auckland A. and P. Association's case for consideration. It was explained that Invercargill had been allocated the 1933 show, but Auckland desired this fixture, which it would hold in February, 1934, two months later than the set date in December for Southland. It was stated that, on the present basis of allocation of the fixture, it was being held at Invercargill in a four-year cycle, and at Auckland in a" nine-year cycle.

The liiYcrcargill delegate, the Hon. A. F. Hawke, stated that, when he left the South Island, that centre wanted the show for December, J 933, but he had received a communication since stating that it was prepared to withdraw its claims in favour of Auckland, provided it secured the following Royal Show fixture. This gives Invercargill a fiveyear cycle and Auckland an eight-year cycle for the holding of the exhibition. Satisfaction was expressed at this indication of InvcrcargiU'e assent.
