HEAVY GALES.
Stormy Week-End on Sea and Land At Home. LIFEBOAT RESCUES. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, November 1. Heavy gales, accompanied in come parts by torrential Tains, swept the British Isles during the week-end and caused considerable damage on sea and land. One gust of wind at Folkestone registered a velocity of 110 miles an hour, which is the highest recorded since the instrument was installed there. All the English Channel ports were severely swept by seas.
Lifeboats were summoned to vessels in distress off the coast and several thrilling rescues were effected.
