WHITE POPULATION.

BETTER DISTRIBUTION. , LONDON, October 26. Better distribution of the people of the world was suggested by Commissioner Lamb, of the Salvation Army, in speaking at a representative luncheon, celebrating his 50 years' association with the army. "Not only Britons, but hundreds of thousands of people scattered over the Empire, will wish to be associated with this Imperial tribute," said the Commonwealth Resident Minister, Mr. S. M. Bruce. •

The Secretary for the Dominions, Mr. J. H. Thomas, who presided, referred to the fact that the luncheon was held in the Goldsmiths' Hall, and said that it was a gem of gold they were gathered to honour.- .

Commissioner Lamb, in replying, said that if they could draw a plan to reform the present troubles one thing that would have been gained would be the better distribution of the people of the world beginning with the Empire's white populations.
