KUMEU RATEPAYERS.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS. There was a good attendance 1- at the annual meeting of the Kumeu' District Ratepayers' Association, which was held last evening in the Kumeu Hall. Mr. J. A. Lambden presided. The chairman, in his report, stated that the work carried out in the past year fully justified the existence of the association. Mr. R. Cates was appointed publicity agent, and Mr. D. MeNair district weather recorder. Others officers were elected as follow:—President, Mr. J. A. Lambden; vice-president, Mr. C. E. Davis; secretai'y, Mr. D. Hill; treasurer, Mr. R. P. Dane; auditor; Mr. W. J. Rodger. The riding member explained the position regarding a proposal from the Upper Harbour settlers to construct a bridge at Hobsonville. The following resolutions," which are to be forwarded to the member for the district, the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, were carried unanimously: "That this association, having taken notice of the Government's intention to set up a Dominion Reserve Bank, wishes to protest against it becoming a private institution, and strongly advocates the bank to be owned and operated by the Government for the people of the Dominion." "That this meeting respectfully urges the Hon. J. G. Coates to give his careful consideration to the question of currency reform." "That material from disused branch lines of railway could be used.to advantage in proceeding with the building of the surveyed short route from. Morningside to Kumeu." Special thanks were accorded the riding members, Messrs. L. Kerr-Taylor and R. Glasgow, for services rendered to the ratepayers-; also to Mr. J. Macky, representative on the Waitemata Power Board.
