DOG REGISTRAR CHARGED
FINE OF £10 AT ONEHUNGA.
James William Robinson, dog registrar for the Mmigere Riding of the Manukau Count}' Council, appeared before Messrs. J. E. Green and H. J. Davies, .T.P.'s, in the Onehtmga Police Court this morning, charged with failing to account for the receipt of 10/ from each of Mr. C. L. Overtoil m.d Reta Forward, 5/ from Mrs. A. L Marriner, and 2/(J from Mrs. U M. Patterson, for dog collars sold to them in 1931. Sergeant S. A. Brown prosecuted, and Mr. F. C. Ellis appeared for the defendant. Arthur Edgar Ashcroft, clerk to the Manukau County Council, statod that til moneys had not been paid into his ofliee, and 40 dog collars had not been returned to the ofliee. J. M. Craig, assistant clerk, and Miss Bennetts, cashier, gave coiifirinator}, evidence. I'olir receipts were produced in court which had been issued by accused. These amounts, said the witnesses, had not been accounted for to the council. Accused admitted selling the four collars, and suid lie paid the money received for them. £1 7/fl* to Mr. Craig, who gave him a receipt, but not on olio of the council's receipt forms. He had destroyed all the receipts obtained for t'o l la is sold in 1031. Robinson was convicted and fined £10, willi costs, and ordered to make restitution to the. council of 27/0.
